about
Polka? Rock? Both. Inspired by my high school's venue upgrade for an important football game and a recently famous friend from my days at said institutional education, Joanne came up with an awesomely goofy polka riff and hook while I provided the driving piano interlude and ending lyrics. End result? Probably the most band-oriented song Nino Blankenship has created so far.
written around December 2, 2011.
basic backing tracks and vocals recorded in the Bay Area on November 3, 2012, bass guitar and Rhodes piano overdub recorded in Sacramento on November 8. Mike Ramos of Grandma's Boyfriend -

Oh, and for those of you in the Bay Area, we've got a backyard concert coming up on November 17th!

lyrics
Ride on the T
Ride on the T
To the Bruce-Mahoney
Ride on the T
Ride on the T
To the Bruce-Mahoney
Cue the stringers, along with the fans
It's instant success, just open the can
Spotlight on the pride of this city
Screen time and a permanent listing
So here is our hero and his serenade
Ride on the T
Ride on the T
To the Bruce-Mahoney
Ride on the T
Ride on the T
To the Bruce-Mahoney
For homecoming, they're wearing their best
When they see him, their hearts are a mess
Spotlight on the pride of this city
Screen time and a permanent listing
So here is our hero and his serenade
Ride on the T
Ride on the T
To the Bruce-Mahoney
Ride on the T
Ride on the T
To the Bruce-Mahoney
Just like any kid propelled to the top
Yes, nostalgia's cheap, as such, it's gone
Spotlight on the pride of this city
Screen time and a permanent listing
So here is our hero and his serenade
It's guaranteed
What flattery
At the gridiron party
This stadium
Soon will become
The Darren Criss
Halftime
Extravaganza...
