a falsetto-heavy Fifties pastiche inspired by the combination of a really awesome person I know...and a box of day-old breakfast pastries. written on May 4 and 5, 2012 by me (Chris) and my partner in comedy Joanne, with her creating the intro and much of the arrangement.

all parts recorded on May 13, 2012 (after the song was debuted at our fifth show) and originally released around that time.

I went to the bakery
I thought you would wait for me
I thought all my wishes were coming true...
But midnight has come and gone
This evening has gone so wrong
It's three in the morning - and there's no sign of you

These donuts are making me cry
I wish I could hear you, but you're nowhere in sight
I smiled for one sugar high
But now it's worn off and I'm in short supply.

Tim Hortons was a choice I should've made
Couldn't find one anywhere in this state
I was hopeful for dessert and this date
Instead it's just me here and a paper plate

This morning
I beat the alarm clock
Was happy that you would share breakfast with me

Then roaring
Because you forgot
A moment with you was all that I'd need

These donuts are making me cry
They're not delicious, they're middling and dry
I'd rather have deep toasted rye
Covered in honey and left overnight.
